A little about me:

Hello! I'm Paul and I am a portrait/fashion/lifestyle photographer based in LA. I love shooting outdoors, especially around Venice Beach and Marina del Rey. I'm looking to do more fashion, beach-look, athletic/fitness, swimwear, and street portrait shoots; so if you are looking for these styles or something different, get in touch! I’d be more than happy to work with you! In terms of style, I shoot a lot of different and non-traditional angles. I tend to think straight-on, perfectly lit, dark grey background portraits are boring. I try to utilize natural light (and shadow) as much as possible. I have a background in cinematography so I tend to shoot and edit with a cinematic flare. 

Recently, I’ve been diving more and more into film photography. I think that film photography forces you to think not only about how a shot is framed, but how it will look once it is developed, which is something that you don’t really have to worry about with digital. Film also has a special quality and character that digital can’t quite capture. I have a mini-lab which allows me to develop, scan, and print my own film.

I shoot all of my 35mm film on my Canon AE-1 Program. For 120 (medium format) film, I recently acquired a beautiful Mamiya C330 Professional Twin Lens Reflex camera, which I refurbished myself. I also recently acquired a Hasselblad 500 C camera from the 1960’s. I also have a Holga 120N, which I use occasionally.

When I’m not fixing old cameras or getting sand in my tripod, I fly spaceships and launch rockets.
